Gravel Driveway - very loose gravel
Parth Upadhyay 19/09/2025 - 8.03 AM
Gravel stones in our driveway have become very loose. Everytime we drive the car out some gravel sticks to wheels and spreads to the pavement and road. It makes the entire area in the front of the house very dirty and potentially dangerous with stones in the road. We cannot change the entire driveway so are there any medium term solutions to fix the gravel driveway, very loose stones and generally making it look better? Thanks.

We normally use gravel grids that are a decent price which are made of hard plastic they keep the gravel sturdy and are tough enough for a car to drive on.

Gravel grids is the best solution.
Remove all old gravel stones then lay the grids then put the gravel back in and compact it to give it strong finish

Hi
Many problems come from the structure of the base which should have a solid sub base which should be compacted correctly. The layer of the stone should be 20mm gravel this will cut down the amount of waste in your tyre 🛞.
Grid are a good option but they still need a good base and right material put in place. I would suggest 20mm material.
