How to deal with and over come condensation
Robert Gollings 28/07/2025 - 8.09 AM
I have a bad condensation and mould issue in the bathroom. First, I will wash the walls and ceiling with anti fungal solution. Then I will repaint with a mould resistant paint. Are these paints effective? There are no windows in the bathroom for ventilation so I'm considering installing a dehumidifier. Again, are these effective? What sort am I looking for? The bathroom 11'5 x 8'2 (3.5m x 2.5m)? Thanks for any advice

Hello Robert,
Your approach is sensible; cleaning with an anti-fungal solution followed by applying mould-resistant paint is effective to some extent. However, without proper ventilation, mould and condensation issues are likely to persist.
Since your bathroom has no windows, installing a dehumidifier is a practical solution. For your room size (approximately 3.5m x 2.5m), a dehumidifier with a capacity of 10-20 liters per day should be sufficient. Look for one with an automatic humidity sensor and quiet operation for convenience.
Ideally, fitting an extractor fan would provide the best ventilation and long-term relief from moisture problems.
In the meantime, keeping the bathroom door open after use can help reduce condensation.
