Water coming into sink after new washing fitted

I had a new washing machine fitted yesterday but I cant use it as when it goes on to the spin the sink fills with water and water is pouring from the pipe under the sink I had no problem with the old machine. The guy who fitted it did the test and when the water started going in the sink he said he plumbed it in correctly I have a blocked pipe probably due to food waste. I said are you sure as Ive had no problems with blockages until now. He then got abit funny with me and said hes been plumbing washing machines for 30yrs blah blah and said its nothing to do with him. So I followed his advice put sink drainer gel down the sink left it overnight. I have just done a rinse and spin and my sink is full of water again ! Was this fitted incorrectly ? Should I contact the company ? Please help Thank you Alison
