Repair to stone barn at the eaves

Angela 14/07/2025 - 8.33 AM

I’m a complete novice so any pointers greatly appreciated…. I have a stone barn which has been reroofed recently and the stone walls are in good condition. There are random gaps between the stone wall and the wooden roof timbers. What is the easiest way for me to fill this space? It’s not for habitation but I’d like it to be draft/mouse proof! Thanks

You could fill those gaps with lime mortar or expanding foam, depending on how neat or traditional you want it to look. Lime mortar is more in keeping with the building and allows breathability, while foam is quicker and cheaper but less traditional. Either way, fit mesh or wire wool first if you want to be sure mice can’t get through. Good luck
