Will moving the toilet reduce noise?
Callum toal 01/07/2025 - 8.18 AM
We have a toilet attached to the dividing wall between bathroom and bedroom. When used the noise from flushing is loud enough to wake people up. Would moving the toilet from the dividing internal wall to the external wall make much difference for noise? Or would it be better to look at sound proofing options for the wall?

Multiple factors are involved. Soundproofing is likely to be your best option but neither of the options you mentioned are much cheaper than the other. Direct contact with the wall is theoretically transferring more noise into the wall fabric but let's be honest, your loo is not vibrating that much when you flush it. It is the sound of the water and it is that that needs to be muffled.
