French doors in place of window

Richard Downing 23/06/2025 - 8.46 AM

I want to put new french doors in place of an old window. The window has a steel reinforced concrete lintel that overhangs by only about 3 inch. If I'm putting french doors in of the same width, will I need to replace the lintel?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

No, using the existing lintel will be fine. We refer to this as a knockout and is common practice to keep the old lintel in place.
