Zinsser Coverstain patches showing through matt emulsion paint
Sirio 03/06/2025 - 12.32 PM
Hello there, I hope you can help. I covered some marks on white walls with Zinsser cover stain leaving some off white patches on the walls. I am using Crown pure brilliant white matt emulsion. I've just finished the first coat and all the coverstain patches are clearly visible. How many coats will I need to apply to actually cover the patches, if ever? Is there any point for me to continue with this emulsion paint or am I just wasting my time? I appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks!

First, use a small roller and cover the stains. Let it dry and apply two coats.

If the colour is still showing then just apply more coats of paint. I've never had to do more than 4 coats.
