Secure roof joist to concrete block

I have a metal corrugated roof that spans a concrete block outbuilding and an ajoining "shed" the shed is being removed meaning the joist, when cut, would only be held down on one side. Am I right in assuming that I can use a twist straps to tie the roof joist into the concrete blockwork. This is only temporary as the roof will need fully replacing before we overhaul the out building.
