Hi, I am planning to replace our attached garage roll-up door with a brick wall that includes a window, with the intention of potentially converting the internal space into a bedroom or office in the future. As a first step, I’d like to focus on the wall replacement. Could you provide any suggestions on what to consider to ensure the wall is properly insulated and energy-efficient? Do the outer skin in bricks or stone to try to match the existing property with possibly 2 air bricks as well. The inside skin use 4"x2" tanilised timber to build a frame & insulate with 100mm kingspan boards.

When getting quotes, ask about: proper insulation (floor, wall, and around the window), damp-proofing, and how they’ll tie the new brickwork into the existing wall so it looks seamless. Also ask about ventilation, since if you later convert to a room you’ll need it to meet building regs.
