Lots of gaps and no membrane
Anonymous user 01/05/2025 - 12.48 PM
Got into my tiled roof and saw light pouring in and realised there’s no membrane. It doesn’t seem normal but is it?. Also letting a ton of spiders in. I don’t know how much light I should expect without any membrane under the tiles but it seems like they might not have enough overlap either?

Remember from inside the loft you are looking down onto the roof tiles overlapping and can see daylight, that is perfectly normal. From outside your looking up the roof, with the tile overlapping from the outside.
If rain water was getting into your loft space you would not have spiders and cobwebs, as the spiders would not build a web there. Check your timbers for sims of water ingress or damp, that’s a good indicator.
