2 different roof meeting at a right angle - guttering?

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 3.32 PM

Hi, I have a semi ( from the back we are to the right) - we had a double story extension built and a single story extension built to the rear. Starting with the double story and original roof , they have slightly different heights ( about a foot different ) the builder that we employed joined the two of the gutters in the corner which means the left one drop considerably to meet the one on tv right, it looks awful, like as if it is damaged. Another problem is that the new tile edge like for the existing roof is now higher than the original and higher than the neighbours making the roof look short, but that leaves another problem - the builder joined the left roof gutter to the neighbours ( which was fine with the old tiled roof because the tile edge was lower - but now, there is a large unsightly gap between the roof tile edge and the gutter - plus the unsightly heavy drop to the right of that line to meet the mower lower gutter on the right. The builders been out a couple of times in a few months but doesn’t care or does not know what to do. We are 18 months into the extension ( paid fully on time, they messed up the rendering twice by applying it in close to freezing conditions and wet weather … the list goes on… I am Looking for people who care about the standard, the finish of their work, that have a good professional standard and care about their reputation and the clients home. Any suggestions on the guttering? At this point even though he’s been paid and should in theory fix it himself we are now looking to get professional people in who have a sense of pride in their work and have a lot of experience.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes it sounds like an East fix, possibly to buy a bigger facia to close any gaps, and with the horrible looking bits regarding changing levels etc, It seems to just need the correct guttering outlets and u Bends and to insure you have the correct fall per meter making sure water runs perfectly. Many thanks James

Hi . Without any photos it is difficult to assess the problem. Do now if the roofer fitted felt support trays? The rate of fall may be a problem for you and you may have to consider a deeper profile . Do you know which gutter you have ?halfround, squareflow, ogee.?
