Hello, I am looking to future proof and therefore install triple phase in my house. I have made an application to SSEN and they have requested the following I’m not sure what they are asking? Any help will be grateful Number of phases - Single/Split/3 Phase • Starting Method - Soft start, Inverter, Start delta, Direct on line • Starting Current (amps) • Starts per hour • Rating in kW • Type of equipment

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, the questions they are asking pertain to a commercial/industrial set up, which is their assumption because you have requested a 3 phase install. This would be unusual as a new installation for a domestic premises unless you have unusually high electricity requirements. electric kiln etc.

3 phase supplies domestic are normally because either the house is enormous and MD is above 100A or there is a requirement to run 3 phase equipment, my Uncle for instance had a 3 phase supply so he could run 3 phase machinery in his workshop. They are asking what type of 3 phase machinery you are planning on using, specifically this is regarding a motor. I assume you are likely future proofing for either the ability to add a 3 phase ev charger or increased future loads. Just circle 3 phase or put 3 phase (because that is what you are requesting) and just put into type of equipment future 3 phase ev charger or future increased loads whatever is your reason for requesting a 3 phase supply. I am sure someone will contact you if they require any further info.
