Builder took deposit never came back and but business as bankrupt

Hi am disabled and wanted a driveway doing got some one out to price it up and paid a deposit but he never came back and shut his business down soon after I have been told there is nothing my bank will do av I just lost my money and no way of getting it back

Yes I’m afraid so unless you have a receipt for the deposit signed by the builder ? You could then take him to a small claims court

Probably cost you more taking it to court than it was to pay the company the deposit. Cut losses and don’t pay upfront is my motto…
