Seepage up between pieces of wooden flooring
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 3.31 PM
Small ' bubble' of smelly paste appear between two sections of wooden flooring. Appearance began during recent persistent heavy rain and appears to disappear on dry days. Area is in the entrance to the downstairs cloakroom / Toilet at junction with Hallway. Any ideas?

Hi, Its hard to say, its possible its coming from the toilet. Check around the pan connector (bottom at the back) and see if you can see any leakage. Flush the toilet a few times while you are looking at it. Monitor it to see if its getting worse.

This could potentially be a buried manhole cover or a blocked rainwater gully. Are there any outside facing walls near by?

Well it don’t seem to be a plumbing issue as it wouldn’t dry out, so it’s obviously something to do with rain issues.
Could be the water table in your area rising when you have a lot of rain if there’s no membrane under the flooring but it’s very hard to say without looking at the problem…
