change from NG to LPG
Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.37 PM
I would like to cap off existing gas supply to prepayment meter and convert to LPG (Propane). I know the gas cooker has to be converted with different size jets and quite a few boilers only need tweaking or a conversion kit to change to be able to use bottle gas. Can i connect the bottles to my own new meter or direct to pipework where existing meter (no longer required) used to be, or is it preferable to drill through brickwork closer to kitchen to connect boiler and gas cooker with gas bottles sited in a cage

You need to contact your energy supplier if you want a meter capped off and removed. This can ONLY be done by the supplier, not by any old gas engineer.
After that, you need to contact a gas engineer who's qualified to work both on natural gas and LPG and discuss options with with them, and have them do the remaining work for you.

Only the gas supplier can take the meter away, once this has been done a gas engineer proficient in NG and LPG can carry the required transition.
