Can you attach a picket fence to only one wooden post?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.47 PM

I need to extend my picket fence in front of my house but it is block paved. There is one wooden post where the existing fence ends so could I just attach one picket (6x3) to it? Will it fall down just being attached on one side? If so, how do you add a post to block paving? Thanks in advance for any replies. Thanks for replies and now I know I can’t attach the fence. I would love to ask t.g. Maintance but I am in in Leicester. Let me know if you travel that far though.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I personally wouldn't attach to just one post, you could possibly try a post anchor/base and fix that to the ground. Then put a post in this

You would need to put post at the other end where the block pavers are lift a few out depending on size of post. Dig hole for post and post in hole with some post crete or concrete. bring up to ground leave not to high as pavers wont sit flush. Cut block pavers to fit and tap down. if you have any kiln dried sand brush some in the joints to stop blocks moving.
