Outside Tap Front of house Installation

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.47 PM

Hi I’m looking at installing a outside tap at the front of the house, I have 1 currently in the back but want 1 at the front, I don’t really like the idea of running a water pipe from the kitchen sink/under the floors to the front of the house as that’s more costly replacing flooring and stuff, So I work in the construction housing trade and I am familiar with house services mdpe 25mm water pipes and stuff running from the outside of the house, So my question is if I excavated at the front of my house/hand digging could I just turn off the valve from where the house water service is running and just put a T connector on the service and just run a pipe up from the ground and connect it too a outdoor tap ?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You own everything your side of the stop tap in the road. Yes you can tee off the mdpe and convert to copper. You would need a double check valve before your outside tap to keep within regs. I would probable also be a good idea to get some good lagging and install an isolation valve and drain off near ground level so that it can be drained over winter to reduce the likelihood of any problems.

You can do whatever you like your side of the mains value, but personally I'd find a place to make your existing plumbing exit the building without digging any trenches or running under any floors, then if it's not already where you want , just run the tube to wherever you wish your outside tap to be. Worst case if you really don't like the look on the side of the building, box then In.
