Roofing
small roof leak, mortar replacement in a small section of tiles
Anonymous user 2 March 2024 - 2.30 PM
Hi I have a small damp patch on my dining room ceiling approx 25 cm square.
The plumber has checked for leaking pipes & visually inspected the section of
roofing felt no leaks. I have noticed a crack in the mortar below a roof tile above the conservatory roof which may be the issue ? would a roofer be able to advise on the problem & rectify. would this be too small a job for the roofer to be bothered with. Property is a bungalow.
Thank you in advance
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
Firstly, mortar below a tile suggests either ridge or gable tiles need to be inspected as more unseen mortar may have moved and dropped into guttering…also depending if/where the chimney is the flashings /or mortar may be perishing

Would always be best to have a roofer check if this is the issue as it could possibly be an area for water ingress, no harm on getting a roof inspection.
I'm sure if you found a local roofer/ property maintenance company. They would be able to do this for you especially since its a bungalow.

This sounds like an easy enough fix mortar is always going to perish as it contracts , expands due to weather and changes of temperatures . Moste of time it is easy to re point
