Tiling

Tiling over existing tiles in a cob cottage

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.54 PM

I know it is not recommended but as we live in a very old cob cottage I would not like to remove existing tiles therefore if I score with an angle grinder the coat with PVA will this do the job. Existing tiles are very sound but have lost their glaze and it looks awful.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can tile over existing tiles but I would remove them but if you want to just tile over them do not use pva as this only forms a skin on the surface and breaks down in time I recommend that you prime with sbr such as Bal bond.
