Smell from hole in the wall valor gas fire
Anonymous user 19/02/2024 - 2.30 PM
Ive had Valor hole in the wall gas fireplace fitted for 3 years but I have always had this smell come from it when it heats up. Venting is good, airflow goes through the chimney. Initially I thought it was the logs but valor have been round and said it’s not that and I’ve turned it on without the logs and the smell still exists after 10 mins. Can anyone help. Could it be the surrounding material?

You need to have tests, no one could say what the problem is without the proper tests

Gas gas engineer will have to carry out a smoke test first and examine the chimney to illuminate debris and possible, making sure the damper is fully open, smoke shelve is clear of debris.
Finally any debris behind the fire must be all clear. Fire and fire place must be installed correctly, air flow is important and adequate ventilation, if all is okay you should have no smell. And definitely no hole in the wall.
