Is it more cost effective to buy door and hire door fitter separately?

Hi all, I've recently been looking into the idea of replacing my old UPVC front door. I've had one company come out and quoted be a price of nearly £3500 for a replacement door and single sidelight. That might seem right I don't know, so sorry if it does but I didn't think it would be that expensive. Looking around, I wondered if its a better option to buy the door myself and then hire a door fitter? would that help at all in the way of costs or am I better with a full package from a company? I'm the the Derby area if that helps? Thanks

With that sort of pricing it would be advisable to purchase door separately.once bought seek an installer!

New door with side window will cost you about 1.5k.,so better to do it seperately.,2 fitters will install for you in one day(with removing old door)

Hi, I've done a few front door replacement jobs where it has worked out cheaper for the customer to supply their own door. I replaced a sliding door with a patio door and I managed to save them £800!

I would use the same company for both as if anything goes wrong with the product you would cover the cost for parts or replacement, the fitter would only cover the fitting side
