Plumbing

Move a mains water and waste pipe

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.37 PM

I have a peninsular style kitchen island, with the sink and dishwasher plumbed in. The mains water/stop cock comes up in the middle of the peninsular unit. I want a larger free standing island, so the plumbing would need to be moved further into the room. Is this a hard/large expensive job? I imagine a channel would need to be dug into the floor? Thanks so much for any advice.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would say the best way would probably be taking into consideration the size of the new peninsula unit. if a chase is needed in floor space under the unit. work out where the new supplies come up and take out enough of floor to connect water and waste supplies once this is done make good to the floor etc hopefully this will be helpful ?

Agree as any move into centre of kitchen with a sink requires pipes for water and waste, look at the whole kitchen ,where are you appliances IE dishwasher, washer and draw up a plan for routes ect Then you can either dig trench for island only or mdy have to include connection for others note if sinking waste below floor level use solvent weld and include work to exit into outside drain and considev damp course

The works required will depend on whether your floor is tiled or wooden or even concrete which will impact the price - moving pipework is not in itself a big issue so without knowing the existing floor material and repair method it is hard to calculate but it’s not a overly pricey job and wouldn’t take to long to do
