Euro cylinder door lock, no fixing bolt but won't budge!

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.36 PM

Hi all. Changing the lock on my door, went to pop it out to measure, noticed there's no fixing bolt holding it in! Tried to remove it but won't budge! I could snap it but confused why won't it budge? ****08/01/2023 Hi all i dont know how to add a response to you, but thanks both for coming back to me. Unsure what's holding it in, I've tried the key and some brute strength but no luck. The hole below i believe is where the long fixing bolt should be, and there is no screw present. taking some new pictures with light, i can see something in the hole right in that could be perhaps the blot snapped off in the hole, therefore assuming i'd need to snap the lock annoyingly. Could i take the whole unit out to avoid snapping the lock, but imagine it will still be stuck in there.....nothing is ever straightforward haha! Please see the link below the last post for the image of the fixing bolt hole. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6496935/euro-cylinder-door-lock-no-fixing-bolt-but-wont-budge/p1 Thanks all

You may find if you have not taken the long screw out it may be an Allen key headed screw holding the cylinder in (sits inside so you won't be able to see it)

Try removing the door handles sometimes they can jam the cylinder in

Losen the bottom screw on the handles, which will allow more movement for the cylinder to move, if this doesn’t work, attempt to remove handles completely. If this fails then it could be the case that the multi lock gear box has bent slightly, locking the cylinder in place, in this situation I would personally snap the cylinder and renew it
