Can an electric hob be installed above a gas meter that is in a base unit?

Anonymous user 06/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

The gas meter will be housed in a base unit - can an electric hob be safely installed above this? There will be a worktop a minimum of 20mm in a 1000 unit wide unit

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

1. No combustible material is allowed in between 2. Minimum distance between the appliance and gas meter needs to be ATLEAST 150mm. Otherwise NOT Allowed. 3.You haven't stated if there's any space between worktop and gas meter. 4. Check the Appliance Manufacturers Instructions (M.I) For distance allowed.

I don’t think so as per building regulations, Where there is a gap between pipes and wires less then 25 mm we are not allowed to install anything accordingly, ??? Then the gas meter to close, If in a situation of gas leak would be at high risk of a fire, You will need an alternative option to install a an induction hob or call the supplier to relocate the gas meter!!!! Hopefully that helps:
