Stuart turner question. Do I need two booster tanks for hot and cold on an unvented cylinder?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 3.03 PM

I have an invented cylinder hot water cylinder. Mains water pressure and flow is very low. I’m guessing the megaflow will be the same pressure from the effects of the Stuart turner? I wouldn’t need a separate tank for hot water? Thinking about it further as I write this question, it won’t make sense to have hot water in a separate ST tank.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

you can not use a domestic shower pump on mains water, your unvented cylinder is mains pressure fed ,get a qualified plumber to advise you, you could have the size of your incoming main increased this would give you more volume but the pressure would remain the same as the water board supplies, this is a minimum of .7 of a bar.

@tom85030... Your question is a bit unclear. Are you looking at having a Stuart Turner whole house pump to boost your incoming main? Or are you describing a shower pump by ST to add after the unvented cylinder? The latter is not possible as mentioned above. Get the water supplier to measure pressure and flow rate at their stopcock outside and based on that you can then know if a new main into your property would improve the supply or if you'd require a break tank and booster pump or accumulator. Good luck Dean
