cieling light wont turn off

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.54 PM

hi, ceiling light problem. the old light was removed, this took multiple small led lights which were changed individually. I've fitted a new light which is classed 2 light, so just earth & neutral to wire into a small junction box which sits inside the metal housing that fits on to the cieling. The light is a circular led light which is sealed so doesnt need changing, if that matters. The issue is that the light comes on ok but won't turn off at all, its meant to be a 3 step dimmer switch by turning the switch off then on within 2 seconds, but the light won't turn off at all and doesn't even dim.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I suspect the new light fitting you have installed is not dimmable. The three step dimmer switch won't function correctly with a non-dimmable fitting.

First off is the light a dimable. Second have you connected it correctly. If in doubt get a electrician

Was the original light a loop in ceiling rose? If so, the permanent live supply may be supplying the fitting and by passing the switch?

I would suggest you contact an electrician. It could be incorrectly wired or the light could not be dimmable for example
