Installing a toilet after a skim coat of plaster?

Anonymous user 19/02/2024 - 2.30 PM

We are having our bathroom done and are currently without a toilet. The toilet can be installed tomorrow however the person doing the skim coat of plaster on the wall can only come tonight or after new years. Is it okay to install a toilet the day after a skim coat of plaster

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It's generally recommended to wait for the plaster to fully dry and cure before proceeding with any activities that may generate dust, vibrations, or potential damage. Installing a toilet involves some drilling and movement, which could disrupt the freshly applied skim coat. Taking the extra time to ensure the plaster is fully set can save you from potential issues down the road.

Yes it's fine to do this, just make sure it's fully dried before any painting
