Damp Proofing

Does my living room need an air vent?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.36 PM

We have an air vent on the outside wall of out living room however not on the inside, so throughout winter we get a damp patch on the internal wall. Should we replace it with a vent that is on the outside and inside or just remove the vent completely? The only damp / mould we have in the room is caused by the external air vent.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Upgrade it to a pasifyer vent this will allow it to take out any condensation and warm up the cold air coming in. Everything neads to breath including houses so I would not block it up completely.

There was probably an internal air vent at one point but it has been blocked/ dot and dabbed over? Thus causing damp patch inside.probably suggests you have concrete floors too? As normally any vents would be under the wooden floor for air circulation.

It could be the vent internally has been covered but this should be checked as it may have been there for gas fume reasons if any gas appliances are installed near by.
