Putting up curtain poles in a new build
Anonymous user 06/03/2024 - 2.31 PM
Just bought Redrow new build, what type of screw would be best to fix curtain pole brackets to the wall above the windows which is plasterboard and behind that is hardboard according to the site which eliminates the need for having a batten of wood on show I assumed a wood screw as there is hardboard behind the plasterboard in place but worry that I might crack the plasterboard if I directly screw into that before reaching the hardboard
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Depends on thickness of hardboard behind and weight of curtain pole and drapes. But can assume the have used 12-18mm OSB which will hold curtains fine. Use wood screws, but pilot first.
Kind regards
