Unplastered walls - how to make press cupboard good?

Anonymous user 06/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

Hi there, We have a press cupboard in a house we have recently moved into.... It has wooden shelving but the back and surround is bare wall and unflustered and ever slightly uneven in a part of it. Does anyone have any suggestions how this can be made good and smooth and what materials we should use to do this? thank you in advance, Sheila

I think what you have is not really a press cupboard but a built in cupboard into a recess where it just has shelves and doors to the front . You can have it plastered internally or you could have the inside cladded with MDF to make a false back and sides then painted it would be a matter of which one is cost effective for you.

Replastering generally, if it's not something you've got any experience in it often not worth trying yourself. Lining paper or cladding the walls in mdf could be another option.

You could always drink line the walks with plaster board and tape and joint it or line the wall with mdf
