Venting of fireplace

Anonymous user 04/03/2024 - 2.30 PM

I live in a house that’s approximately 25 years old. We had a gas fire that was in situ from building but not been used in over 12 years. We have had the fire removed and left with the empty hole. Plan on building a frame and plasterboard the hole over. It is a very shallow fireplace approx 1 brick deep. So not worth having the whole thing removed. The chimney breast is not also in the bedroom. So assuming this is a lined vent. Would this need vent brick at the plasterboard side in the living room? The brickwork was dry and dusty on removal of the fire. It is also on an internal wall. We are semi-detached and it was on the adjoining wall to the next house in the middle of the living room. Thanks

If the stack has been removed it won't need venting if it has any sort of flue to the outside it will need venting .
