Can I retrofit electrical UFH underneath vinyl click flooring, and will it be efficient??
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.47 PM
I've got a slightly chilly and damp spare bedroom in my basement flat. Water based UFH made a HUGE difference in my lounge/ kitchen ...warm, dry, clean air...but I want to see if there's a low profile electrical equivalent that can go under the luxury vinyl click in my spare bedroom. I haven't the budget for another water UFH install. Or the headroom. I also know LVT will not hold heat anywhere near as well as the ceramic tiles over my water based system.

Electrical UFH can be installed under the vinyl tiles flooring. The importance is to be given to the suitability of the selected flooring. It usually states if it is appropriate for UFH or not. The floor will only be warm during the heating is operated as the conventional water UFH retains heat the electrical one gets cold relatively instantly.

You can. But you should put a latex over the the element of the UFH, obviously a latex that works with UFH. Then a product like Camaro Ridig core would work well. Do not buy any click system from flooring suppliers online nd b and q. It's rubbish Chinese weak flooring. Will break up in a week. All the best
