Will I benefit from a manual thermostat?

Dear all, I was wondering if you can help? I have a Viessmann combi gas boiler that was installed in February 2023. The boiler is fine. The only problem is that it has a smart thermostat. This means that if the internet is off, I cannot turn my radiators on. I was told that in order to overcome this issue, I need a manual thermostat. If this is the case, do I need a gas engineer to install it? Also, how much does a manual thermostat cost? Cheers.

A smart thermostat should operate your heating system without Internet connection. Without Internet connection it should operate as a manual thermostat. Etc turn heating on and off. You will not be able to operate your heating away from home and some features that it offers will be unavailable. You must be a gas safe registered engineer or accompanied/supervised by a engineer to open the case of the boiler and carry out any work. The prices for thermostat varies, you can have a browse on the Internet and heating merchants to have a better idea of prices

You will need a Qualified Person to do the Controls. If you are not happy with a Smart Stat would recommend you change for a Programmable Model instead

Yes it will save you money by keeping your heating bill down, without it your boiler will just keep running and never shut down automatically

Yes you can have a manual thermostat but it will need to be wired into the boiler and the wire would need to be run to where the thermostat is going probably cost about 120 Pounds depending on how long and where the thermostat is going
