Energy efficient substitute for immersion heater on full electric home
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.54 PM
Hello, I am abit clueless with these things but my home is fully electric and I have recently had solar panels fitted when I run a bath the hot water needs to be on for at least an hour before but even then it doesn't fill the bath full of hot water it runs out, Is there an energy efficient alternative that's smaller to that I could install and relocate to a different section of the house?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi it sounds like an internal thermostat locking out over heating/faulty stat would need to actually be there to say for sure.

In my opinion nobody can answer this because it depends on various reasons, such as water pressure, type of heating system, type of bathroom tap, and whether you have a spa in other parts of the house or is this problem only in the bathroom? If yes and you have a thermostat valve in the bathroom, the problem is with the valve. I hope it can be helpful for you.

If the hot water is running out before you have enough in the bath then I would say it's down to the size of your cylinder or cylinder stat is low but not enough info to give you a full diagnostic answer

Hi your brst bet would be to install a horrizontal meter in the loft a direct JAB duc w50 litre with two emersions would be sufficient for 2 whole baths full of water at 60 to 70 degrees and this also irradiceted the space issue. Although you must have a w2mm or 25mm blue poly pipe water main installed fro the stop cock to the newly installed cylinder. Hope this helps
