Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.56 PM
hi I have volunteered to re point some of the stone work in our village church which I really want to do but am not familiar with lime mixes as all the work i do is with cement mixes. I really want some advice from someone on what mix to use as it is for the church it needs to be right. Thanks

A good place to start would be 5 parts sand, 1 part cement and 1 part lime.
You can get a colourant from all diy stores.
Good luck
Don't forget to watch for falling temperatures. Anything above 4 degrees should be ok

their is no cement in lime mortar as the lime mortar shrinks it needs to be rebeded in the joints as it drys its not as easy as re-pointing with cement and if done wrong can look terrible, as you have never used lime mortar before personally id leave it alone.
