Removing wooden curtain rail backing

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.36 PM

The curtain rails in my living room are hidden behind long wooden planks that are L-shaped, with one side stuck to the ceiling and the other hiding the rails We've removed all the curtain rails and all visible screws, and I've also loosened with a stanley knife the plaster/glue where the planks meet the ceiling. However we cannot seem to remove the planks still, I can't see any other visible screws so I'm not sure if the planks were "glued" to the ceiling somehow? Does anyone have any idea on how to proceed? I've tried a bit of brute force by hammering some flathead screwdrivers in the gap between the plank and the ceiling but it doesn't seem to help loosen the side of the plank that is stuck to the ceiling

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If it's painted and filled smooth it could be likely there's screws still in the wood! Would be worth sanding back to expose any filled screws .

It’ll be screwed into the brick work as well as the ceiling.

There may be some screws which are filled and you can’t see them, this why it doesn’t come off. Try to find those screws otherwise with a crowbar but be careful you may get some damage on the ceiling. Hope this helps
