Could the Cause of this Downstairs Leak be the Dishwasher Pump?
Anonymous user 11/03/2024 - 2.30 PM
if a dishwasher pump is leaking over a period of time onto the timber floor beneath it, could the water accumulate near the sink down pipe and leak over time into the downstairs area directly beneath the pipe? Or, could such leaking ONLY happen as a direct result of a leak in the pipe itself?

Hey , yes if the dishwasher pump is leaking on the floor and the floor falls towards the sink waste pipe a pool of water will settle here. If a pool of water is here long enough and the floor is wooden it will eventually seep through. If there’s no visible signs of a leak on the pipe I’d say it’s the dishwasher, to check the waste pipe put the tap running and check the pipe and especially the fittings (bends insulation valves) for drops and feel them to see if there wet to the touch, if the pipe seems dry and no visible signs of a leak it’s the dishwasher pump causing the issue.
