Pump replaced, now boiler heats above thermostat
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.36 PM
I had a pump replaced on Worcester Bosch Junior boiler (20 years old) on saturday cos boiler wouldnt worked and was leaking. Since then the boiler is firing up even when room temp is achieved. Eg set to 18, keeps firing til hits 18.9. Ive turned the temp down on the thermostat but want this to work properly. Is it the pump or the thermostat or what as all was fine before the new pump. Already adjusted boiler water heat dial?

If your Worcester Bosch Junior boiler is firing up beyond the set room temperature, there could be several potential causes. Here are some troubleshooting steps:
1. **Check Thermostat Settings:**
- Ensure that the thermostat is set correctly. Sometimes, slight adjustments may be needed. If it's a digital thermostat, check for any programming issues or temperature differentials.
2. **Thermostat Calibration:**
- If the thermostat seems to be misreading the room temperature, consider calibrating it. Refer to the thermostat's manual for instructions on adjusting calibration settings.
3. **Boiler Water Heat Dial:**
- You've mentioned adjusting the boiler water heat dial. While this can impact the overall system, it might not directly address the thermostat issue. Ensure the dial is set appropriately for your heating needs.
4. **Pump Replacement Impact:**
- Since the issue started after the pump replacement, it's possible that the new pump installation could be related. There might be an issue with the pump settings or how it interacts with the boiler's control system.
5. **Contact the Installer:**
- Reach out to the professional who replaced the pump. Explain the issue and ask if there are specific adjustments or settings that need to be addressed after the pump replacement. They should provide guidance on resolving the problem.
6. **Boiler Controls Check:**
- Review the boiler's control settings, especially those related to temperature control and thermostat communication. If there's a misconfiguration, it could cause the boiler to run beyond the desired room temperature.
If the issue persists, it might be necessary to have a heating engineer or technician inspect the system to identify and rectify the problem. Given the recent pump replacement, the installer should be willing to revisit and ensure everything is functioning correctly.
