Swapping a faulty shower for a new one
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.47 PM
Hi. I’m about to remove existing shower which is rated at 9.5kw with a triton easy fit which is also rated at 9.5kw. It’s currently fed by 6mm twin and earth, length of run is probably only 5 metres. It’s got a 32A rcd via a double pole isolator. Is this acceptable or does the breaker need up rated?

Ideally it would be a 10mm cable on a 40a supply

I would advise replacing the 6mm cable with a 10mm twin & earth

Remember to register it under part p with your scheme.... As it's required under law... You know, or else you'd be endangering folks, you are an electrician right?

Hi, per calculations, it is required to upgrade to 40a breaker and 10mm twin & earth.
