Non central heating water filled radiators banging and sound like a kettle

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.54 PM

I have 4 electric radiators mounted to the wall in my house. NOT CENTRAL HEATING. These were brought about 6 months ago but the larger 2 downstairs not mounted and used till now the smaller 2 upstairs are quiet and piping hot. The 2 downstairs sound like a kettle constantly after about 5 mins of being on and they also intermittently make a banging noise. The ones upstairs gurgled when first put on and company advised adding more water. I've done this to the 2 downstairs but still the same problem. The tops of the radiators also do not get that hot. I've tried to contact the company again but have been unsuccessful at the moment. Does anyone have any trouble shooting advice or know how. I can fix this as I need the radiators now. Thanks Update. I have bled the radiators. The kettling noise cuts off when radiators get to temp but only lasts a matter of seconds before it kicks back in again as tops of radiators are not hot.

If it's electric radiator then you require electrician not a Gas engineer.

Could be a build up of sludge , I would recommend a power flush.

Get an engineer to have a look at the pressure reduced valve. It will be on the boiler or on the cylinder depending on what type of system you have. Hopefully this will be helpful to you.
