Hot water not coming out shower head
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.54 PM
Hot water comes out the tap fine and fast! When i turn it on for the shower it comes out cold and sometimes if i leave it on for 5-10 minutes… by chance it turns hot… All the taps are fine its just the shower… what do i do? Its a theromostat one where you have 2 knobs one on each side…. And has like the big shower head up top and a smaller one lower down… I have opened the side of the knob which controls the temp but was just a screw and i csnt take the actual thing off to see of the temp thing is any issue…

I should say that the thermostatic cartridge is at fault. These are relatively cheap to replace. Normally numbers are stamped into cartridge. As you look at shower it is inside right hand control knob

As above, sounds like a faulty thermostatic cartridge. If you know the make and model of the shower you can buy replacements online or if you cant identify it yourself, you can use Showerdoc, an online company who I have used multiple times with unbranded showers. If you can strip the old cartridge out and take photos and send them to showerdoc they will identify it for you and give you a link to buy a replacement

Thermostatic cartridge is broken ,need to be replaced if you can find a replacement or entire shower mixer replaced if no spares available or the condition of the mixer doesn't worth a refurbishment.

You may be able to change thermostat cartridge, however it's probably just as cost effective to change the shower unit and know the job is done.
