Laying Furniture on unfinished Laminate room

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.54 PM

I am trying to check at what stage or if at all I can lay furniture back on unfinished Laminate. Basically I have a large room and a small section off this room(all flows) that I am going to lay herringbone Laminate. The issue is I have some furniture items which cannot be removed from the whole are so my plan would be it can be moved into the smaller area whilst I laminate the large room and then moved back onto the finished area whist I carry on and Laminate the smaller area. Wanting to know the issues with this as in does the finished bit still need to be left 24-48hrs or can I carefully lay the furniture back on this section once done and then crack on with the smaller room straight away so all finished at the same time

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Unless you are gluing the laminate down (which you shouldn't be), it is fine to put furniture on it. If you get the first few rows in place with the correct expansion gap; the weight will help do the rest of it because it won't move and has a bit of "guts" to it.

Yes you can move it back on carefully as long as the first few rows of flooring are done correctly with expansion gaps. Make sure you don't scratch the new floor.

It's fine to move over straight away. Make sure the floor is swept to avoid potential scratches. Install enough rows to allow enough space to move furniture and continue fitting. Check expansion gaps before proceeding. And use cardboard from the laminate boxes as flooring protection or felt pads on your furniture to prevent damage.
