Electric shower not staying warm

Anonymous user 17/03/2024 - 2.30 PM

Electric shower gets warm when first turned on but immediately goes luke warm. If you turn the hot water tap on at the sink the shower warms up again. What is the likely cause of this?

I would think there is 2 possible causes of this problem. You haven't mentioned if this is a new probem, or an existing one. Some showers have 2 heating elements. If you have a multi position dial for turning on the unit, or three push buttons, this would indicate 2 elements. If one has failed, the flow rate will affect the temperature. When any tap is opened this will slow the flow rate, which in turn increases the contact time between the heating element and water, giving hotter water. If the flow rate is low and the shower has a thermostat, this could be the cause if it has developed a fault.
