This sounds like it could be trapped air due to a dead end pipe. Maybe checking to see if any deadend pipes have been left from old bathroom.

Pipes are definitely crossed over at some point on the new installation of the bathroom need to expose all pipework and start again which is Down to the installer to rectify

Could be one of a number of things. Since I don't know if you have a gravity fed system which requires a hot water cylinder. An unvented system like a megaflo or a combi boiler. Then it could be that your kitchen sink has a mixer tap and the cold water (which would be at mains pressure) is mixing with the hot. Which would mean you need a new kitchen tap.
