Hi, I wanted to water seal my house out side, front exterior wall. Someone told me I had to paint it with pva first. So I did, now people saying no. Can I paint the waterproof sealant over the top of the pva wash or will it not work now.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can use a water-based PVA which will provide a good seal if it is the brickwork you are sealing. I would also advise bitumen paint which is a great option for sealing damp. Apply direct to the brickwork

If you want to keep the brickwork as a "brickwork" finish, then using a silicone based water repellent is the best option. If you want to apply a render coat to the surface, then provided the surface is clean and has an adequate key, then a brushed coat of "SBR" would be suitable. This will help seal and waterproof the wall.

Pva .if it gets wet out side it will re emusify so I would use sbr over the top but there may be a better product as sbr leaves a glossy finnish
