SmartLock for home

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.35 PM

Hi, I'm looking to replace my porch door Lock and the house's main door lock with a smart lock. I would like to get a suggestion for the right model in terms of security, mobile integration, accessibility ( like using a key, fob, or mobile app), and most importantly what to do when the battery goes down. At the moment, Main house door lock is of type ( ERA Rim Automatic Deadlatch) and porch door lock is of type ( Multipoint locking system ). Is there any smart lock that would work for multi-point locking as well? Thanks for your help Best Regards, Matt

Hi Matt, Assuming front door is a wooden door, and porch door is an Upvc, the answer is simple. No. There some smart locks on the market, however, they are not ready for UK. Lots of problems from day 1, not reliable, and you will need a locksmith to regain access to your house more often than you think.

Hi Matt. The YALE Conexis should work for your multipoint lock (there is only one lock they're not compatible with). It meets the British Standard and is kitemarked - making it insurance approved. The software admittedly is a little buggy, but you don't necessarily have to set it up with the software - you can just use the fobs/cards. The software is ideal for removing lost keys, sending virtual keys and removing access rights at your finger tips when fobs are lost. For the nightlatch, YALE also do the YD01, which is a digital keypad solution and can be used with their fobs. We'd always recommend using a Yale nightlatch with this solution, so there may be a bit of joinery filling work when removing your ERA night latch. In response to your question about what happens if the batteries go down - both units have 9v terminals on the bottom of them, where you can apply a rectangular alarm battery to them to energise the unit and gain access. Once inside, you can replace the AA batteries. Hope this helps! Sean. Spec & Fix Locking Solutions

Check out Ultion NUKI. Also Amazon do some good ones including fingerprint. Recommend for back door as have had fitted some for customers and they love them. Wooden door, there is a Yale one but it does have flaws so not quite there for wood door yet.

Hi The ultion nuki will work with your door and is easy to fit. Uses an app or a fob to lock / unlock plus the key still works when needed. Connects via WiFi or Bluetooth
