How to abut a warm flat roof to cold pitched

I am trying to figure out how to do this as I assume the warm roof abutment would neutralize the sofit ventilation of the cold pitched So how to a reintroduce these openings above the abutment point of these two roofs that would comply with building regulations please ?

When abutting a warm flat roof to a cold pitched roof, create an air gap between them. Introduce ventilation openings above the abutment point in the pitched roof's soffit.
