Cancellation of work

I've accepted a quote for work but my financial situation has changed and can no longer go ahead with the work....how do I cancel and will I be penalised

Hi. Legally, you have 14 days to cancel as per consumer rights. If it has gone over this period you're in a position that you may loose deposit and/or be billed for lost money by the contractor. If the start date is a way away you may be able to negotiate with the contractor. If its soon, that may be difficult as they may have paid for materials and will have allocated time for the work. Best thing to do is contact the contractor and let them know the situation. Communication as soon as possible is key here. Hope this helps

Unfortunately if your circumstances change you won’t have the money to do the work i am sure if you talk to the builder and they haven’t out layed for materials it will all be fine and can be done at a later date

You should be able to just give MyBuilder a call as well to mediate the matter, they can also give some good advice. But I would agree with the earlier comment of early communication - soft skills and remember not to worry :)

Along side any legal consumer rights, your contract with the builder should state a cancellation period along with a form to be filled out.
