Hot and cold water pipes

Hi I’ve just moved into a new house and the hot and cold water supply is back to front. The hot taps in both the bathroom and kitchen run cold water and the cold runs hot. The cistern fills with hot water and the outside tap runs hot water too. Also the dishwasher and washing machine are running hot water as well as the shower. I’m just wondering if there’s an easy solution like a flex pipe that needs swapped over or some kind of valve that could be replaced? Can anyone give me some advice please.

Get a professional plumber this is not a DIY job unless you want your house to have an internal swimming pool

It will be just a swap over but this will depend where the swap over happened might just be a quick fix. Or you might need to trace back where it happennd this will be a much complicated fix

I am afraid someone connected wrong piped to hot water tank. That's a job for a plumber I am afraid, all connections are (and should be) rigid.

It's. Simple fix for a plumber Basically the hot and cold are crossed at the boiler by the sounds of it All you need to do is swap the hot and cold round as close to the boiler as possible making sure no take off are from any of the pipes Simple really. Hooe it helps

Looks to me like the boiler hot and cold pipes have been transposed. If it’s a new house get the builders round to fix it. Guy

Hi the first simple step is to run the hot tap and follow the pipe back to the source. Do this for each hot water supply. I know this can be intrusive following the pipes. You may have to lift some floor boards. Try the one closest to your boiler. To see if it goes to the hot outlet from your boiler. This way you can work out if it’s a simple swap with brazed pipes of course!
