Gas fire with pipe /Chimney issue

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.54 PM

I have opened up my fireplace (not massively ) and I have a Gas fire Gazco that looks like a log burner with a pipe coming out the top but it’s just a gas fire. Can I put the pipe up throughout the chimney opening and make a cement board ceiling for the pipe to go through to seal off the chimney opening?? I already have glue lining and cowel in situ from previous gas fire

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You would need a flue liner and cowl installed by a professional and then signed off

As previously said, but chimney needs to be swept, new lining fitted, connected as per the manufacturers instructions to the lining, register plate fitted and sealed and tested. just on a note this is all presuming the Gazco fire is open flued and not balanced flued.

You would need a gas fire liner. In stalled bye gas safe person who can do the checks and sign it off. So no you can not do it yourself.
